We previously demonstrated that the White-Menelaus arithmetic formula combined with skeletal age as estimated with the Greulich and Pyle (GP) atlas was the most accurate method for predicting leg lengths and residual leg-length discrepancy (LLD) at maturity in a cohort of patients treated with epiphysiodesis.

Simple elbow dislocation occurs at an incidence of 2.9 to 5.21 dislocations per 100,000 person-years, with as many as 62% of these patients experiencing long-term elbow joint contracture, stiffness, and/or pain. Poor outcomes and the need for secondary surgical intervention can often be prevented nonoperatively with early or immediate active mobilization and physical therapy.

Orthostatic intolerance (OI)-type events following hip and knee arthroplasty increase the risk of falls, hospital length of stay, and health-care costs. There is a limited understanding of the incidence of and risk factors for OI-type events in patients during the acute hospital stay.
