Atrioventricular block (AVB) of unknown aetiology is rare in the young, and outcome in these patients is unknown. We aimed to assess long-term morbidity and mortality in young patients with AVB of unknown aetiology.

The aim of this study was to investigate the cross-sectional associations of modelled residential road traffic noise with cardiovascular disease risk factors [systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP), C-reactive protein, triglycerides, glycated haemoglobin, and self-reported hypertension] in UK Biobank.

Since dietary sodium intake has been identified as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and premature death, a high sodium intake can be expected to curtail life span. We tested this hypothesis by analysing the relationship between sodium intake and life expectancy as well as survival in 181 countries worldwide.

Whether isolated diastolic hypertension (IDH), as defined by the 2017 American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) guideline, is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been disputed. We aimed to further study the associations of IDH with (i) subclinical CVD in the form of coronary artery calcium (CAC), (ii) incident systolic hypertension, and (iii) CVD events.
