Despite reports of decreased bone mineral density in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) in international cohorts, the prevalence of osteoporosis in Australian SSc patients remains unknown. We report rates of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanning in an SSc cohort at a tertiary hospital specialized outpatient clinic and the prevalence and associations of osteoporosis in screened patients.

Metabolic syndrome is a major health problem worldwide associated with obesity, thus drawing attention to its relation to osteoarthritis (OA). However, it is still uncertain whether metabolic syndrome or body fat distribution is associated with knee OA. The aim of this longitudinal study was to elucidate the association between metabolic obesity and adverse structural changes of knee OA assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Tofacitinib has an important role in pediatric rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD) associated with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), an otherwise potentially fatal condition. It may be useful in induction of remission and can be used safely to maintain remission. Serum ferritin and interleukin-18 are useful markers for tracking activity and response of JDM-associated ILD.
