Corneal haze remains a frequent post-operative finding in patients undergoing corneal cross-linking. It has been shown that autologous serum tears promote epithelial healing and reduce post-operative pain; however, the role in the prevention of corneal haze has not been reported.

Advances in imaging technology over the last two decades have produced significant innovations in medical imaging. Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is one of these innovations, enabling powerful new imaging tools for clinical use and greater understanding of tissue optical properties and mechanisms underlying eye disease.

Moderate to high uncorrected hyperopia in preschool children is associated with amblyopia, strabismus, reduced visual function, and reduced literacy. Detecting significant hyperopia during screening is important to allow children to be followed for development of amblyopia or strabismus and implementation of any needed ophthalmic or educational interventions.

Lack of knowledge regarding the mileage driven by drivers with low vision who use bioptic telescopes could obscure the relationship between vision and road safety. This study provides data suggesting that worse vision is correlated with less mileage driven but more collisions per mile in bioptic drivers.

Foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area is a frequently used biomarker in diseases impacting the retinal vasculature in pediatric populations. Variation in axial length between individuals results in differences in lateral image scale, which affect the accuracy of FAZ area measurements. Accordingly, changes in axial length over time within individual children would affect estimates of FAZ area change.

Psychophysical estimates of spatial and depth vision have been shown to be better after bilateral ReLEx small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) refractive surgery for myopia, relative to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK ). ). The present study provides the optical basis for these findings using computational image quality analysis.

Visual anticipation is vital for performance in several domains such as driving, military, and high-speed interceptive sports, as it enables performers to handle severe time constraints. There has been little investigation into individual differences of anticipation skill transfer within a domain, which can guide training of anticipation to improve performance.

Tear film instability has been recognized as one key mechanism on dry eye disease. There is a need for new instruments, methods, or protocols to improve the repeatability and reproducibility of the tear film stability to facilitate its clinical evaluation use as a rapid and reliable primary diagnostic test.

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare lymphoma that can present even more rarely in the orbit. Diagnosis, differentiation, and systemic treatment with the help of an oncologist are necessary for improved prognosis. Eye care providers must be vigilant when addressing ocular findings to determine next steps.

Cone dystrophies and cone-rod dystrophies are a group of rare inherited pathologies characterized by degeneration of cone photoreceptors and subsequent rod involvement. The identification of causative genes is essential for diagnosis, and advanced imaging is acquiring great value in the characterization of the different phenotypic expressions.
