Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease affecting about 1% of world population. Three polymorphisms of Interleukin?1 receptor?associated kinase (IRAK1) gene, rs3027898, rs1059702 and rs1059703, are studied to associate with RA risk. However, the findings are inconclusive. Therefore, we performed a meta?analysis to derive a more precise estimation of the impact of the 3 polymorphisms on RA risk.

NF??B (nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells) signaling pathway is involved in the occurrence and development of various kinds of inflammation, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In this paper, the relationship between the activation or inhibition of NF??B and the pathogenesis of RA is discussed. It is found that activated NF??B operates a dual?aspect effect which can either promote or suppress inflammation. When NF??B is inhibited, the symptoms of RA are significantly improved. The specific role of NF??B is closely related to its upstream stimulator and downstream activator. Therefore, we review the research on NF??B in RA over the past 20 years in order to have a clearer understanding of its mechanism.

Many patients turn to online platforms to obtain healthcare information, but the quality and accuracy of the information is largely unknown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the reliability and quality of the most viewed English?language YouTube videos on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Biologic therapies are one of the most significant breakthroughs in the treatment of rheumatic diseases, although there is still some uncertainty surrounding long?term patient safety. Recently, a growing number of patients browse the Internet as a source of health?related information. We aimed to assess the quality of information available on YouTube videos regarding the side effects of biologic therapy.

Although the pathogenic mechanisms of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are not completely clarified, evidence suggests that interleukin 17A (IL?17A)?mediated immune responses play a pivotal role in the disease. This is best underscored by the important clinical effectiveness of IL?17A inhibitors in psoriasis treatment. We aim to investigate the predictive value of IL?17A in detecting the early axial spondyloarthropic (SpA) changes in psoriatic patients.

Patients with rheumatological complaints may visit an emergency department (ED) because of an acute attack or complication. Because of the recent increased use of immunosuppressant drugs to treat rheumatic diseases, more patients with these conditions visit the ED with a complaint about an infection. However, there are little data on the ED visits of patients with rheumatological complaints. This study evaluated the ED visits of patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

Chronic inflammation and subsequent use of glucocorticoids can lead to relative adrenocortical insufficiency in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Previously, adrenocortical hormone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) was shown as a potential therapy for autoimmune disorders. However, data regarding effects of DHEA in RA are limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of DHEA on quality of life (QOL) in premenopausal rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Antibodies against carbamylated proteins/peptide (CarP) have been associated with severity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. However, their role in risk groups, specific targets and relation with periodontal disease (PD) is uncertain yet. The aim of this study was evaluated the association between the levels of anti?CarP with clinical manifestation, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles, periodontal activity markers, PD diagnosis, PD severity, and presence of Porphyromonas gingivalis (P gingivalis) in relatives of patients with RA.
