Ber-EP4 is an antibody that labels basal cell carcinoma (BCC) by targeting epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM). MOC-31, a monoclonal mouse antibody, also targets Ep-CAM and is currently used to differentiate several extracutaneous epithelial tumors. However, the utility of MOC-31 has not been fully described in cutaneous tumors and in Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS).

Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is a widely used technique for removal of cutaneous tumors. The procedure is well-tolerated with little surgical or postoperative pain. OBJECTIVE: This study examined pain levels after Mohs surgery throughout the first week of recovery and the relation to patient demographics, lesion characteristics, surgery details, and postoperative analgesia.

There is a scarcity of information regarding the clinical characteristics of rare cutaneous malignancies in skin of color that has yet to be comprehensively explored. OBJECTIVE: To review and compile the racial differences in epidemiology, clinical presentation, histology, treatments, and outcomes of 3 rare skin cancers: dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), and sebaceous carcinoma (SC).

Full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) are useful repairs for reconstructing nasal alar defects. Traditional donor sites include the preauricular, postauricular, and supraclavicular skin. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate esthetic outcomes and complications of nasal alar defects repaired with FTSGs from the medial cheek. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective chart review of Mohs surgery patients who had FTSG repair of the nasal ala between January 2015 and August 2020 was performed. Demographic, surgery, and follow-up visit data were reviewed. Cosmesis was rated by a facial plastic surgeon, a Mohs surgeon, and a plastic surgeon using baseline, defect, and follow-up visit photographs.

Subcuticular suture is an important technique for achieving optimum wound closure, and there has been no comprehensive summary of subcuticular sutures to date. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the origin and development of interrupted subcuticular suture to help clinicians improve their wound closure skills. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive review of subcuticular suture techniques was conducted in PubMed to summarize the advantages and disadvantages of various methods and clinical indications.

Digital myxoid pseudocysts (DMPs) are the most common benign degenerative lesions of the nail unit. There is currently no consensus regarding first-line treatments for DMPs. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate demographic and clinical features and treatment methods of DMP and examine recurrence rates and factors that may affect recurrence.

Keloids are a chronic disease and cause pain, pruritus, and limitation of motion. Intralesional corticosteroid injection is the first-line treatment, but its effects can be limited, even with repeated injections. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of a tunneling method of corticosteroid injection compared with conventional intralesional injection. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted of keloid patients treated with intralesional corticosteroid injection by conventional and tunneling methods

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increasing shift toward the utilization of telehealth services. There are limited data on patient preferences for these services in dermatologic surgery. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate patient preferences regarding telehealth in dermatologic surgery for pre- and postsurgical care.

A previous study using a parallel cooling plate cryolipolysis applicator demonstrated the efficacy of cryolipolysis for pseudogynecomastia. Although the procedure was safe and effective, treatment times were prolonged and anesthetic was needed to reduce treatment discomfort.

Clinical scales are useful to assess skin laxity in different areas of the body. OBJECTIVE: To elaborate and validate a photonumeric scale to assess buttocks skin laxity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The Buttocks' Skin Laxity Severity Scale (SLSS) was developed based on a sample of 120 patients. The SLSS validity and reliability were assessed in 2 validation cycles, performed by 8 dermatologists assessing 50 clinical cases. Both criteria and construct validity were tested.

Lower eyelid aging is a complicated process, and for that reason, a comprehensive assessment of the lower eyelid is important before treatment. OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to analyze and assess the lower eyelid aging process between different age groups of Asian women. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The authors developed the comprehensive lower eyelid age rating scale (CLEARS). The rating scale contains 3 domains and each composed of 3 items. Individuals were evaluated by the age group starting with the third decade (20-29 years) through the seventh decade (60-69 years) by 2 dermatologists working independently.

Vascular occlusions that threaten skin integrity, although not an emergency like those that threaten a patient's vision, is an urgent situation. Accurately interpreting physical examination findings is paramount. The use of high-dose, pulsed hyaluronidase is the mainstay of therapy; however, adjunctive measures that may optimize clearance of an occlusion and/or skin barrier repair such as the use of image guidance and hyperbaric oxygen should be considered.
