Nelonemdaz is a multitarget neuroprotectant that selectively blocks N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors and scavenges free radicals, as proven in preclinical ischemia-reperfusion studies. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of nelonemdaz in patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving endovascular reperfusion therapy.

In atherosclerotic stroke, lipid-lowering treatment with a target LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol of <70 compared with 100+/-10 mg/dL reduced the risk of subsequent cardiovascular events. This post hoc analysis explored the relative effects of the combination of statin and ezetimibe (dual therapy) and statin monotherapy in achieving the lower LDL cholesterol target and in reducing the risk of major vascular events, as compared with the higher target group.

We recently reported a worrying 30% rate of early neurological deterioration (END) occurring within 24 hours following intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in minor stroke with isolated internal carotid artery occlusion (ie, without additional intracranial occlusion), mainly due to artery-to-artery embolism. Here, we hypothesize that in this setting IVT-as compared to no-IVT-may foster END, in particular by favoring artery-to-artery embolism from thrombus fragmentation.

Intravenous thrombolysis improves functional outcome in patients with acute stroke and frequencies of r-tPA (recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator) treatment have been increasing over time. We aimed to assess whether functional outcome in r-tPA-treated patients improved over time and to investigate the influence of clinical variables on functional outcome.

AB The consequences of stroke can be devastating and include psychological distress, such as anxiety and depression, functional deficits, pain, and cognitive impairment. Symptoms are complex and impact not only the stroke survivor but may also be challenging for family caregivers. Studies have consistently demonstrated that mindfulness-informed interventions (MBI), such as mindfulness-based stress reduction and acceptance and self-compassion therapies, improve symptoms in a wide variety of clinical populations. However, research examining MBIs within the stroke population is in its infancy.

Deposition of Alzheimer disease proteins can begin in midlife and progress slowly, whereas aging of the vasculature also can begin in midlife, continuing to progress into old age, making mixed dementia the most common type of dementia.
