Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is a common and severe complication in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, and it progresses in a majority of patients. Fetuin-A, encoded by the alpha 2-Heremans-Schmid glycoprotein (AHSG) gene, is a serum calcification inhibitor. The study aimed to examine the role of AHSG gene polymorphism rs4918 in CAC and CAC progression of PD patients.

This study examined whether survival and causes of death differed between participants enrolled from Australia (AUS), Malaysia (MYL), and New Zealand (NZ) in extended follow-up of the Study of Heart and Renal Protection (SHARP), a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of participants with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease comparing placebo to combination therapy with Simvastatin and Ezetimibe.

β2-Microglobulin (β2-MG) and α1-microglobulin (α1-MG) have molecular weights of 11,800 and 33,000 Da, respectively. We studied the α1-MG and β2-MG reduction ratios (RRs) and survival in patients on predilution online haemodiafiltration (Pre-OL-HDF).

Beta Trace Protein (BTP) is a biomarker for residual kidney function which has been linked to cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in haemodialysis patients. Following renal transplantation, recipients remain at increased risk for cardiovascular events compared with the general population. We aimed to determine the relationship of pre-transplant BTP to major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients following kidney transplantation.

Podocytes, a vital component of the glomerular filtration barrier, are vulnerable to various noxious stimuli, including Hypoxic. HIF1α that transduces hypoxic adaptations induces Transglutaminase 2 (TG2), which catalyses cross-linking of extracellular matrix proteins. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of regulation of TG2 by HIF1α.
