The association between spinal cord infarction (SCI) and cancer is an infrequent condition but requires an accurate diagnosis to establish the appropriate treatment. Clinical features and prognosis of cancer-associated SCI have never been assessed.

Blood-based biomarkers were recently proposed as predictors of traumatic brain injury (TBI) outcomes. This would be a critical step forward since the majority of TBI events are mild and structural brain damage in this group may be missed by current brain imaging methods.

External ventricular drainage (EVD) for acute hydrocephalus after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) carries a risk of complications. We studied the proportion of patients in whom EVD can be avoided by treating acute hydrocephalus with ≥1 lumbar punctures (LP).

A subset of extracranial symptomatic carotid stenosis (ESCS) patients may fare well on current optimal medical therapy (OMT), and surgery may be avoided in these patients. Therefore, we aimed to develop and validate a stroke risk prediction model to stratify the risk among ESCS patients.

Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a movement disorder of facial muscles innervated by the facial nerve. This condition often demands regular utilization of healthcare resources. However, knowledge of the incidence and prevalence of this condition is based on scarce studies. This research aimed to identify the incidence and prevalence of HFS in Finland's largest hospital district.

Sensitive cognitive markers are still needed for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The Benson Complex Figure Test (BCFT) is an interesting candidate test, as it assesses visuospatial, visual memory, and executive abilities, allowing the detection of multiple mechanisms of cognitive impairment. To investigate differences in BCFT Copy, Recall and Recognition in presymptomatic and symptomatic FTD mutation carriers, and to explore its cognitive and neuroimaging correlates.

In post-stroke spasticity (PSS), effective treatment with botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) is associated with transient decrease in activation of the ipsilesional superior parietal lobule (SPL) and intraparietal sulcus (IPS). We hypothesized that this would be reflected in changes in resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) of the SPL/IPS.
