Long-term risk of cancer among the first-degree relatives of epithelial ovarian cancer patients: A cohort study with 48 years of follow up

Laura Kotaniemi-Talonen, Eero Pukkala, Kristiina Aittomäki, Annika Auranen

doi : 10.1111/aogs.14504

The long-term risk of cancer among first-degree relatives of ovarian cancer patients, especially their offspring, is of apparent clinical importance. Risks caused by known inherited factors such as BRCA1 or BRCA2 pathogenic variants are well established, but these account for only about 15% of ovarian cancer cases. Less is known about the possible familial risks of sporadic ovarian cancers.

Buprenorphine-naloxone, buprenorphine, and methadone throughout pregnancy in maternal opioid use disorder

Minna M. Kanervo, Sarimari J. Tupola, Eeva M. Nikkola, Krista M. Rantakari, Hanna K. Kahila

Current WHO guidelines recommend using methadone or buprenorphine as maintenance treatments for maternal opioid use disorder. However, buprenorphine-naloxone, with a lower abuse risk than buprenorphine monotherapy or methadone, offers a potentially beneficial alternative, but scientific evidence on its effects on pregnancies, fetuses, and newborns is scarce

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is common in women of reproductive age. Infection and inflammation are leading causes for preterm delivery (PTD), but the role of HPV infection in PTD and prelabor rupture of membranes (PROM) is unclear. We aimed to explore whether HPV infection during pregnancy in general, and high-risk-HPV (HR-HPV) infection specifically, increased the risk of PTD, preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM), PROM at term, and/or chorioamnionitis.
