Methionine aminopeptidase 2 (MetAp2) inhibition has been recognized as a promising approach for suppressing angiogenesis and cancer progression. Small molecule fumagillol derivatives with adamantane side groups were synthesized and evaluated for MetAp2 inhibition activity, and a lead molecule with superior abilities to inhibit the enzymatic activity of MetAp2 was identified.

Polymeric micelles are increasingly explored for tumor-targeted drug delivery. CriPec® technology enables the generation of corecrosslinked polymeric micelles (CCPMs) based on thermosensitive (mPEG-b-pHPMAmLacn) block copolymers, with high drug loading capacity, tailorable size, and controlled drug release kinetics.

Oral cancers affect millions of people globally, with increasing incidences among adults aged 35 and above. Poor drug uptake by lesions in the oral cavity following systemic administration, as well as limited localized treatment modalities for oral tumors, result in poor patient quality of life and high mortality.

Iontophoresis has been vastly explored to improve drug permeation, mainly for transdermal delivery. Despite the skin’s electrical resistance and barrier properties, it has a relatively high aqueous content and is permeable to many drugs.

Lipid-based formulations (LBFs) are used by the pharmaceutical industry in oral delivery systems for both poorly water-soluble drugs and biologics. Digestibility is key for the performance of LBFs and in vitro lipolysis is commonly used to compare the digestibility of LBFs.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has always been a topic of great interests attributed to its vital role in biological process. H2O2 is known as a major reactive oxygen species (ROS) which is involve in numerous physiological processes such as cell proliferation, signal transduction, differentiation, and even pathogenesis.

Most of the current clinically used anti-HIV and antimalarial drugs have low bioavailability, either due to poor solubility and permeability, rapid clearance from anatomical reservoirs and poor retention at their site of action (e.g. due to the p-glycoprotein efflux system), and extreme first-pass metabolism (e.g. by the cytochrome P450 enzymes).

Transdermal delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) can be challenging, since the skin possesses a rate-limiting barrier, which may be overcome when APIs possess certain ideal physicochemical properties. The lack thereof would require that APIs be included in drug delivery vehicles to enhance skin permeation.
