Providing accurate molecular imaging of the body and biological process is critical for diagnosing disease and personalizing treatment with the minimum side effects. Recently, diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals have gained more attention in precise molecular imaging due to their high sensitivity and appropriate tissue penetration depth.

Needle-free jet injectors are used for the intralesional treatment of various dermatological indications. However, a systematic review that evaluates the efficacy and safety of these treatments has not been published. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficacy and safety of needle-free jet injections for dermatological indications and to provide evidence-based treatment recommendations.

Superficial tumors are still challenging to overcome due to the high risk and toxicity of surgery and conventional chemotherapy. Microneedles (MNs) are widely used in the treatment of superficial skin tumors (SST) due to the high penetration rate of the stratum corneum (SC), excellent biocompatibility, simple preparation process, high patient compliance, and minimal invasion.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy in women worldwide. Almost 70–80% of cases of BC are curable at the early non-metastatic stage. BC is a heterogeneous disease with different molecular subtypes. Around 70% of breast tumors exhibit estrogen-receptor (ER) expression and endocrine therapy is used for the treatment of these patients.

Cyclosporin A (CsA, 0.05% w/w)–loaded positively charged emulsions were prepared based on castor oil, chitosan, poloxamer 188, glycerin and double-distilled water. To augment the shelf/storage-stability of original emulsions, the solid-dry powder for reconstitution was made by spray drying technique.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a vision-impairing complication of diabetes, damaging the retinal microcirculatory system. Overexpression of VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) is implicated in the pathogenesis of DR. Human antigen R (HuR) is an RNA-binding protein that favorably regulates VEGF protein expression by binding to VEGF-encoding mRNA.

Peptides have a distinguished therapeutic potential for several chronic conditions, and more than 80 peptides exist in the global market. However, most of these marketed peptide drugs are currently delivered intravenously or subcutaneously due to their fast degradation and limited absorption through non-invasive routes.

Intracellular bacteria serve as a problematic source of infection due to their ability to evade biological immune responses and the inability for conventional antibiotics to efficiently penetrate cellular membranes. Subsequently, new treatment approaches are urgently required to effectively eradicate intracellular pathogens residing within immune cells (e.g. macrophages).

PlK1 has a significant role in the development of breast cancer. Thus, silencing of PlK1 gene may arrest the growth of breast cancer. However, the in vivo stability of PlK1 siRNA after injection remains a challenge to target the specific site. The delivery of siPlK1 RNA via viral vector and amine group–terminated dendrimer is associated with immune reaction and cellular cytotoxicity.

There is currently no causal treatment available for Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, the use of glial cell line–derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) to provide regenerative effects for neurons is promising. Such approaches require translational delivery systems that are functional in diseased tissue.

Skin tissue engineering has progressed from simple wound dressings to biocompatible materials with desired physico-chemical properties that can deliver regenerative biomolecules. This study describes using a novel biomimetic hybrid scaffold of decellularized dermis/collagen fibers that can continuously deliver stromal cell-derived factor-1 alpha (SDF-1α) for skin regeneration.
