Meniscal repair is the goal, whenever possible, for the treatment of meniscal injury. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term clinical success of meniscal repair performed with a second-generation, all-inside repair device with a concomitant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

Focal cartilage lesions are common in the knee. The risk of later ipsilateral knee arthroplasty remains unknown. The purposes of the present study were to evaluate the long-term cumulative risk of knee arthroplasty after arthroscopic identification of focal cartilage lesions in the knee, to investigate the risk factors for subsequent knee arthroplasty, and to estimate the subsequent cumulative risk of knee arthroplasty compared with that in the general population.

AB The National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 grant represents the gold standard for research independence across the United States. The barrier to entry for this grant mechanism is extremely high, with <10% of grants being funded. Interestingly, after this tremendously high barrier, there is very little accountability for the grantee to accomplish the aims that were originally proposed.
