This integrated analysis evaluates the efficacy and safety of voclosporin, a novel calcineurin inhibitor, at 23.7 mg twice daily in combination with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and oral glucocorticoids in lupus nephritis (LN) using pooled data from two large phase II and phase III clinical trials. The purpose was to expand the pool of patients for safety analyses and to increase power for efficacy analyses in patient subpopulations.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure is associated with photosensitivity, rashes, and flares in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, it is not known whether UV exposure increases risk of developing SLE. We examined UV exposure and SLE risk in a large prospective cohort.

The long-term impact of childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adult SLE patients in comparison to those with adult-onset SLE is unknown. We aim to examine and compare HRQoL trajectories in adults with adolescent- and adult-onset SLE.

A retrospective cohort study was undertaken in a predominantly Black population undergoing standard treatment for lupus nephritis (LN) to estimate the incidence of, and risk factors for, complete response (CR) according to modified Aspreva Lupus Management Study (mALMS) and modified Belimumab International Study in Lupus Nephritis (mBLISS) criteria by 12 months.

Substantial disparities exist in clinical trial participation, which is problematic in diseases such as lupus that disproportionately affect racial/ethnic minority populations. Our objective was to examine the effectiveness of an online educational course aiming to train medical providers to refer Black and Latino patients to lupus clinical trials (LCTs).

Global assessments of disease by both patients and physicians are widely used in clinical studies of systemic sclerosis (SSc). They are commonly secondary end points in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and are considered important items in composite measures of treatment response.

Primary myocardial involvement is an important cause of death in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Subclinical diastolic/systolic heart dysfunction is recognized; however, whether this indicates a subsequent increased risk of clinically overt heart failure (HF) remains largely unknown. We aimed to investigate the risk of clinically overt HF in a large, unselected SSc cohort.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients are classified according to degree of skin fibrosis (limited and diffuse cutaneous [lc and dc]) and serum autoantibodies. We undertook the present multicenter study to determine whether intrinsic subset (IS) classification based upon skin gene expression yields additional valuable clinical information.

The American College of Rheumatology's (ACR) 2020 guidelines for the management of gout recommend using a treat-to-target approach to lower serum urate (SU). Using the ACR's Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness registry, we examined the use of a treat-to-target approach among gout patients receiving long-term urate-lowering therapy (ULT) and followed longitudinally by rheumatologists.

Sjögren's disease (SjD) is an archetypal and heterogenous autoimmune disorder that is characterized by exocrine glandular dysfunction. A proportion of patients develop severe extraglandular manifestations, such as cryoglobulinemia, and have an increased risk of lymphoma, both of which can adversely affect quality of life and occasionally mortality.

Many patients with fibromyalgia (FM) report using cannabis as a strategy to improve pain. Given that pain often co-occurs with symptoms of anxiety and depression (i.e., negative affect) and sleep problems among patients with FM, improvements in these symptoms might indirectly contribute to reductions in pain intensity following cannabis use.

Simultaneous antibody testing during screening for autoimmune conditions is discouraged. The incidence of positive extractable nuclear antigen (ENA) in the setting of a negative antinuclear antibody (ANA) has been reported as low. Our objective was to characterize the frequency of diagnosis of new ANA-associated rheumatic disease (AARD) in the setting of a negative ANA with a positive ENA.
