Background: Despite the wide range of available treatment modalities a delay between the first outbreak of acne vulgaris and an effective treatment outcome is experienced by many patients. Considering the growing incentives to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care while reducing healthcare costs, insights into the structure, quality and accessibility of acne healthcare services beyond guidelines are therefore needed.

Acne vulgaris, a common and chronic disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, affects up to 85% of adolescent and young adults. While a lot is already known about acne and its treatment, still the gaps in our understanding of acne remains. This article will review the emerging evidence in the complex pathogenesis of acne and provide an overview of the potential future therapy in management of acne vulgaris.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the follicular unit characterized by recurrent, painful, skin lesions including inflammatory nodules, abscesses, tunnels, and mutilating scarring. Intralesional corticosteroids injection (ICI) for HS has received little attention in the scientific literature. We evaluate the clinical response of ICI in acute and chronic HS lesions and aim to identify new applications of ultrasound-assisted procedures in HS management.

Plantar warts are common skin lesions caused by the human papilloma virus. It is characterized by the presence of a horny ring of hyperkeratosis surrounding the wart, making its elimination a therapeutic challenge. Several destructive agents are available for treatment with variable success. Intralesional vitamin D3 has been reported as a successful treatment of warts. Intralesional zinc sulfate has been found to be another successful therapeutic modality for wart elimination.
