Urinary tract infections (UTI) are common in children and the guidelines focus on preventing kidney damage. We compared the 2013 national Swedish guidelines on UTIs in children with the guidelines from America, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy and European urologists. This showed that urinalysis and urine cultures are endorsed by all the guidelines, but sampling techniques and bacteria levels differ.

Children with COVID-19 tend to show milder symptoms than adults during the pandemic, but growing evidence of neurological involvement has emerged. Some studies have reported neurological symptoms in children with COVID-19, which include multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a disease that shares some, but not all, of the characteristics of Kawasaki disease.

Face masks are essential during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the United Nations Children's Fund and the World Health Organization, recommend that they are used for children aged six years and older. However, parents are increasingly expressing concerns about whether these might be physically harmful. This mini review assessed the evidence.

The role of nutrition in preventing atopic diseases including atopic dermatitis has recently gained interest in the medical community. Caregivers of infants and children at an increased risk for developing atopic dermatitis often employ exclusion diets or other measures in hopes of preventing the development of this burdensome disease.

Adding perfusion index (PI) to pulse oximetry screening (POS) may increase neonatal detection of CoA (aortic coarctation). A cut-off <0.7% has been suggested but is associated with a high rate of false positives. We aimed to evaluate the specificity of PI when using repeated instead of single measurements.

We examined how gut feelings of child health care physicians’ (CHCPs) contribute to the development of a suspicion of child abuse, how they act upon this suspicion and what barriers they experience in their management. To gain insight into the youth health care chain, we compared the diagnostic reasoning and management regarding this issue by CHCPs and family physicians (FPs).
