Lichen planus (LP) affects up to 4% of adults and can cause significant distress and morbidity, especially to those with persistent disease. As many as 20% of patients with LP may exhibit widespread or recalcitrant disease necessitating systemic treatment options. We sought to evaluate the effectiveness of systemic treatments for severe and recalcitrant LP not responsive to topical corticosteroids or calcineurin inhibitors. Over a 10-year period, 374 patients with cutaneous and mucosal LP were evaluated at a major regional tertiary medical center; 94 qualified for inclusion in the study.

Alitretinoin is the only systemic agent approved to treat moderate-severe chronic hand eczema (CHE) unresponsive to potent topical corticosteroids. No nationwide Italian data regarding real-life efficacy, safety, and tolerability of treatment are available. The DECISA project (DErmatology Clinics in Italy: Survey on Alitretinoin) retrospectively examined data from a registry including 15 Dermatology Clinics authorized to prescription of alitretinoin for CHE patients. Disease severity was assessed at baseline, and after 3 and 6 months of treatment, using the 5-point Physician Global Assessment (PGA) and the modified Total Lesion-Symptoms-Severity (mTLSS) scores. Between November 2010 and July 2018, data of 248 male and 190 female patients (mean age 49.71?±?13.20?years) treated with alitretinoin were collected.

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Antibiotics, particularly clindamycin and erythromycin, are used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. However, emerging antibiotic-resistant strains have been an important problem. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency and safety of a novel water-soluble herbal acne patch (WHAP) compared with the hydrocolloid acne patch (HAP) in mild to moderate inflammatory acne patients. Venous malformation (VM) is the most common type among vascular malformations classified by the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies. Most VMs are sporadic (94%), caused in 40% of cases by somatic mutation of TEK gene. VMs can be cutaneous, visceral, or combined. Visceral involvement is rare, and gastrointestinal (GI) tract is the most common localization. Visceral VMs, usually asymptomatic, may manifest with bleeding, anemia, and consumptive coagulopathy, which sometimes require an emergency treatment. Our aim is to study the possible GI involvement in patients with only one cutaneous VM.
