Forearm and hand fasciotomy for upper limb ischemia

Forearm and hand fasciotomy for upper limb ischemia
The patient presented with severe ischemia of the upper extremity due to embolus related to atrial fibrillation. On initial presentation, both sensory and motor deficit were apparent. Following embolectomy to restore upper extremity perfusion, compartment pressures were 80 mmHg, necessitating decompressive fasciotomy of the forearm (A) and hand (B). Nearly 100 percent of hand function was regained postoperatively.
