Application of the powder directly to skin (must be used as a solution); systemic use or if unable to have direct contact with the infected site.

Warnings/Precautions

Appropriate use:

• Bladder/eye installation: Instillation of 0.2% solution, particularly into the bladder or into the eye, may cause severe discomfort. Pretreat the eye with a topical anesthetic. In the bladder, use a 0.1% concentration for the first treatment, instilling the solution to the capacity of the bladder without over-distention.

Administration: Adult

Topical: Apply by irrigation, instillation, spray, soaks, or wet compresses, preferably thoroughly cleansing with gravity flow irrigation or with a syringe to provide copious quantities of fresh solution to remove organic wastes and debris.

May bleach fabrics or other materials if splashing or spilling occurs.

Use: Labeled Indications

Local infections: Treatment of localized infections, particularly when resistant organisms are present; to remove necrotic debris in massive infections or from radiation necrosis; to counteract odorous discharges; as a preoperative and postoperative irrigant and for the cleansing and disinfection of fistulae, sinus tract, empyemas, and wounds.
