Antithyroid Agent

Reported Use

Treatment of hyperthyroidism, thyrotoxicosis, and preparation of patients for radioactive iodine therapy or thyroidectomy.

Dosage Range

Hyperthyroidism:

Children: Oral: Initial: 15 mg daily

Adults: Oral: Initial: 20-60 mg daily given in 2-3 divided doses; maintenance: 5-15 mg daily or alternatively 20-60 mg daily when receiving concurrent thyroid replacement therapy
