Prone shoulder horizontal abduction exercise
Horizontal shoulder abduction performed as pictured above is an important exercise for throwers and overhead athletes. The patient begins the exercise laying face down with their throwing arm hanging straight towards the floor. The patient raises their arm to the side in a plane slightly superior to the shoulder until the arm is parallel to the floor, with palms facing down. This position is held for two seconds, and then slowly lowered back to the starting position.
