US Achilles tendon formation

These ultrasound images depict the formation of the Achilles tendon and show the changes in the relative positions of the gastrocnemius and soleus portions of the tendon as the transducer is moved distal towards its insertion on the calcaneous.

Gastroc: gastrocnemius component of Achilles tendon; Sol: soleus component of gastrocnemius tendon.
