Reported Use
Acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases associated with abnormal mucous secretion and impaired mucous transport
Dosage Range
Note: Use of bromhexine in children <6 years may be contraindicated in some countries.
Oral:
Children 2 to <6 years: 2 mg 3 times daily or 4 mg twice daily (maximum: 8 mg/day).
Children 6 to <12 years: 4 to 8 mg 3 times daily (maximum: 24 mg/day).
Children ≥12 years, Adolescents, and Adults: 8 to 16 mg 3 times daily (maximum: 48 mg/day).
Inhalation: Solution for nebulization (2 mg/mL):
Children 2 to <6 years: 1.3 mg (10 drops) twice daily.
Children 6 to <12 years: 2 mg (1 mL) twice daily.
Children ≥12 years and Adolescents: 4 mg (2 mL) twice daily.
Adults: 8 mg (4 mL) twice daily.
