Living in geographic regions with rates of penicillin-nonsusceptible S. pneumoniae exceeding 10%^*

Age ≥65 years

Hospitalization in the last 3 months

Antibiotic use in the last 3 months

Immunocompromising condition

Multiple comorbidities (eg, diabetes or chronic cardiac, hepatic, or kidney disease)

Severe infection (eg, evidence of systemic toxicity or concern for suppurative complications)
