Site for palpation of tarsal navicular bone

Most, but not all, patients with a tarsal navicular stress fracture experience tenderness at the dorsal navicular somewhere between the tibialis anterior and extensor hallucis longus tendons. In the photograph above, these tendons are outlined and the high point of the dorsal aspect of the navicular bone is marked by an X. This location is sometimes referred to as the "N spot."
