This image shows the structures visualized during ultrasound guided ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric nerve block. The two nerves may or may not be visualized. If they are, they may appear as one or two hypoechoic structures, as shown in the ovals in this image. The tip of the arrow shows the injection target for this block, in the plane between the IO and TA muscles. ASIS: anterior superior iliac spine; EO: external oblique muscle; IO: internal oblique muscle; TA: transverse abdominis muscle.
