Evaluation of children 3 to 16 years of age with an acute (≤72 hours) isolated ankle injury

* Plain radiographs of the ankle consist of anterior-posterior (AP), lateral, and mortise views.

¶ Clinically uncomplicated fractures of the ankle include fibular avulsion fractures and nondisplaced Salter-Harris I or II physeal fractures of the fibula.
