Method for toe fracture reduction

The diagram above shows a method of closed reduction for displaced proximal phalanx fractures. A hard object of an appropriate size, like the pencil shown, is placed in the adjacent web space and used as a fulcrum. With the object held in place, the clinician exerts pressure at the end of the phalanx and reduces the fracture.
