CT scan of Nutcracker syndrome

CT scan of Nutcracker syndrome
Abdominal computed tomography scan in a 14-year-old girl with macroscopic hematuria and chronic pelvic pain shows findings consistent with but not specific for Nutcracker syndrome. These findings are highly suggestive of Nutcracker syndrome in the absence of other causes of hematuria.
(Panel A) Axial plane image demonstrates changes in left renal vein (delta) diameter with a ratio of 5:1 between the distended and narrowed portions.
(Panel B) Sagittal plane image demonstrates an acute aortomesenteric angle with a parallel course of the superior mesenteric artery (asterisk) to the aorta (arrow).
CT: computed tomography.
