Distribution of HIV-1 subtypes globally, 2004-2007
In the inset labeled global, the number of infections caused by HIV-1 subtypes and recombinants are represented as a proportion of the total number of people living with HIV-1 globally from 2004 to 2007. The relative size of the pie charts associated with each region on the map corresponds to the relative number of people living with HIV in that region. The colors representing the different HIV-1 subtypes are indicated in the superimposed legend.
CRF: circulating recombinant forms; URF: unique recombinant forms.
