Cervical nodal metastasis in differentiated thyroid cancer

Cervical nodal metastasis in differentiated thyroid cancer
* Sonographic features suggestive of a metastatic lymph node include enlargement, loss of the fatty hilum, a rounded rather than oval shape, hyperechogenicity, cystic change, calcifications, and peripheral vascularity.[1]
¶ Controversial; not all surgeons would perform a prophylactic central compartment neck dissection even in patients with large tumors or high-risk features.
