Chronic calcific pancreatitis in a patient with PRSS1 gene mutation
Twelve-year-old boy with documented recurrent acute pancreatitis for 5 years, now with chronic calcific pancreatitis. The evaluation revealed a mutation in the PRSS1 gene (at p.R122H). The patient presented with worsening constant pain.
(A) CT of the abdomen revealed a ductal stone, with proximal pancreatic duct dilation.
(B) ERCP was performed, revealing a dilated main pancreatic duct, with a filling defect (arrow) representing a stone.
(C) The stone was successfully extracted using a basket.
