MRI grade two stress fracture of calcaneus

The image above shows a grade two stress fracture of the calcaneus. This sagittal inversion recovery MRI image shows marrow edema within the cancellous bone of the calcaneus. Compare the lighter and more varied appearance of the calcaneus with that of the adjacent talus and metatarsal. Retrocalcaneal bursitis is also present (arrow).
