Retrograde urethrogram demonstrating urethral stricture

Retrograde urethrogram demonstrating urethral stricture
To demonstrate the entire urethra on RUG, the patient must be positioned in a semi-oblique position and rotated approximately 30 degrees, rather than positioned supine. Adequate positioning of the patient is indicated by obliteration of one of the obturator fossa on a scout film (A). The right obturator fossa cannot be seen because of positioning. Note the presence of stones within the bladder because of prolonged outlet obstruction from his urethral stricture. Retrograde urethrogram is performed (B) showing a normal pendulous and bulbar urethra. There is an approximately 3 cm defect at the membranous urethra with a stone fragment in this defect. The bladder neck is normal and closed at rest.
RUG: retrograde urethrogram.
