Repair of crush injury to the hand

A patient suffered a crush injury to the left hand with lacerations to the dorsal (A) and palmar surfaces (B). He had an open comminuted intra-articular fracture of the little finger phalanx and an open extra-articular fracture of the proximal ring finger phalanx (C). The patient also had a vascular injury to the radial and ulnar digital artery of the little finger necessitating ray amputation. Osteosynthesis of the ring finger was performed (D, E). At one year postoperatively, the patient had a good range of motion with good extension (F) and flexion of the left ring finger (G).
