Connective tissue nevi are dermal hamartomas characterized by abnormal proliferation of components of the extracellular dermal matrix, specifically collagen and elastin, and/or proteoglycans. The lesions can be solitary or multiple, and their border is not well defined. Usually, the superficial skin has a normal appearance. A skin biopsy is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
