Balloon control of the iliac artery

Balloon control of the iliac artery
Balloon occlusion of the left common iliac artery for proximal and distal control can avoid clamp injury. Care is taken not to overinflate the balloon, which can easily increase the dimensions of the lesion. When repairing the artery in this location, using native vein as an interposition graft can be a challenge due to diameter discrepancies; patch repair using vein, biologic substitutes, or stent-grafting are alternative techniques.
