Oblique transection

Angle the line of bowel transection somewhat obliquely (broken lines) so that the mesenteric edge is longer than the antimesenteric edge. This ensures a robust blood supply to the antimesenteric aspect of the anastomosis, which is at highest risk of ischemia.
