Truncal asymmetry in scoliosis

Truncal asymmetry in scoliosis
The back should be exposed so that the iliac crests and posterior and anterior aspects of the superior iliac spines are visible. The examiner inspects the back from behind the patient. Findings of scoliosis include lateral curvature of the spine and asymmetry of shoulders, scapulae, waistline, or the distance that the arms hang from the trunk. Lateral curvature of the spine and asymmetry of the shoulders, scapulae, and waistline are evident in the patient depicted above.
