Reinnervation of deep peroneal nerve
The figures illustrate a nerve transfer procedure for the treatment of foot drop.
(A) The deep and superficial divisions of the common peroneal nerve are surgically separated from each other from the level of the fibular head superiorly to the popliteal fossa.
(B) The nerve to the soleus muscle is transected and mobilized to the level of the deep peroneal nerve to which it is sutured in continuity.
Modified from: Flores LP, Martins RS, Siqueira MG. Clinical results of transferring a motor branch of the tibial nerve to the deep peroneal nerve for treatment of foot drop. Neurosurgery 2013; 73:609.
