Repair of traumatic injury to base of thumb

Repair of traumatic injury to base of thumb
The images show an incomplete amputation of the left thumb in a 45-year-old male (A). The thumb was cold and pale in color. In addition to the open fracture, a digital ulnar nerve (*) and artery were pulled out (B). The fracture was fixed with K-wires, the nerve primarily repaired, and the artery repaired with a vein graft harvested from the forearm (C). The completed repair is shown from multiple views (D).
