Lung biopsy samples of lymphangioleiomyomatosis showing positive staining on immunohistochemistry for progesterone receptor (PR), estrogen receptor (ER), and smooth muscle actin (SMA). PR and ER receptors are identified by brown staining of cell nuclei (A and C). The smooth muscle cell origin of PR and ER positive cells is confirmed by positive co-staining for SMA (pink; B and D, respectively). Several surrounding cells are ER and PR negative but are positive for SMA.
