Achilles tendinopathy seen on ultrasound and plain radiograph

Achilles tendinopathy seen on ultrasound and plain radiograph
The ultrasound image above (A) is a long-axis (sagittal) view of the Achilles tendon showing increased thickness consistent with a diagnosis of tendinopathy. Normally, plain radiographs are not obtained for suspected Achilles tendinopathy, but in this case, a study (B) was obtained to rule out other pathology. The lateral plain radiograph too shows thickening of the mid-Achilles tendon. The dotted green line represents the thickness of the Achilles tendon for both images. The yellow cross mark is superficial; the green cross mark is deep.
