Clinical applications of perineal and introital pelvic floor ultrasound

Components of pPFUS and iPFUS (all uses one probe)

2D scanning with Valsalva to assess for cystocele, rectocele, uterine prolapse, and sling and mesh movement

3D scanning with pelvic floor contraction to assess for levator ani avulsion, midurethral slings, and implants

4D scanning to assess for levator ani muscle ballooning

pPFUS: perineal pelvic floor ultrasound; iPFUS: introital pelvic floor ultrasound; 2D: 2-dimensional; 3D: 3-dimensional; 4D: 4-dimensional.
