Hyperspectral imaging of a poorly healing transmetatarsal stump

Hyperspectral imaging of a poorly healing transmetatarsal stump
Hyperspectral imaging of a poorly healing transmetatarsal stump. (A) and (B) are the raw images, whereas (C) and (D) are color renderings of the amount of perfusion measured by hyperspectral imaging. (A) and (C) are images taken at baseline, and (B) and (D) were taken after revascularization and 4 weeks of wound VAC therapy, respectively. Note how the improved appearance of the granulation tissue in (B) corresponds with the improved perfusion measured in (D). Here, the hyperspectral imaging helped to measure the relative improvement of perfusion after revascularization. The patient ultimately received a split-thickness skin graft and healed without further incident.
VAC: vacuum-assisted closure.
