Left hemidiaphragm rupture

Left hemidiaphragm rupture
(A) Chest frontal radiograph, in a patient two years after motor vehicle accident, shows a left basal pleural mass projecting above the left hemidiaphragm and blunting the left lateral costophrenic sulcus (arrow).
(B) Axial computed tomography (CT) thorax shows that the pleural mass is composed of the spleen and retroperitoneal adipose tissue (dashed arrow) in close apposition to the left posterior chest wall without interposed left hemidiaphragm, forming the dependent viscera sign seen in traumatic diaphragmatic rupture.
