Positioning of the robotic system depends on room setup and the type of platform being utilized. Side docking in parallel or perpendicular position is generally used. Docking from the right or left side of the patient will depend on the laterality of port placement. For certain robotic systems that allow for complete rotation of the robotic arms, docking of the robot can be achieved from either side of the patient regardless of port position or hernia site.
