Neointima formation on vascular stent

The figure and angiogram show the appearance of a stent embedded within a vessel wall. The histological section (A) shows the layer of neointima (arrow) internal to location of stent (stent struts seen as black circles) and thickness of neointima (line adjacent arrow). In the angiogram showing the stented vessel (B), a clear zone (dashed arrow) can be seen between stent and radiocontrast within lumen of vessel, which represents the layer of neointima.
