Importance of stent flexibility

The angiograms demonstrate the behavior of a nonflexible versus flexible stent placed at the elbow. Fracture has occurred in the nonflexible stent due to material fatigue from repetitive bending (A; arrow). Note the smooth appearance (no fracture) of the flexible stent (B; dashed arrow).
