Neuroimaging in preterm infant with bilateral Grade 1 CBH through term equivalent

Neuroimaging in preterm infant with bilateral Grade 1 CBH through term equivalent
Neuroimaging of preterm infant (28 weeks gestational age) beginning with ultrasound (at the end of first postnatal week) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at term equivalent age.
(Image A, B) Preterm period: Ultrasound with left, transverse mastoid fontanel views showing bilateral punctate cerebellar lesions (arrows).
(Image C, D) Term equivalent period: On the T2-weighted MRI image (C) a single hypointense punctate lesion is visible in the left cerebellar hemisphere and several more vague, smaller lesions (dashed arrows) in the right cerebellar hemisphere. The susceptibility weighted MRI image (D) more clearly demonstrates the extent of punctate hemorrhagic lesions (thick arrows).
